It is in the mysterious, enclosed garden that the fragrant tulips bloom. This eau de parfum captures the essence of Tulipa sylvestris—a wild species—infused with earthy, herbal notes like fig, elderflower, saffron, vetiver, and sandalwood that echo the garden's essence.

Soon after delving into the captivating tulip history in Antwerp and along the Silk Roads, encountering numerous tulip species previously unknown to me, I found myself entranced by tulip varieties endowed with a delightful fragrance. Unaware of their existence, the oldest description of tulips emerged through a Chinese poem by Li Bai (circa 750 AD), where the scent of tulips became a poetic motto.

Amidst the Corona era, when the significance of "fragrance" took center stage, I reached out to Sofie Albrecht – beauty editor and perfume expert - to objectively explore my fascination with these fragrant tulips. She then connected me with olfactory artist Laura de Coninck. Together with Sonia Constant and Givaudan Perfume, Paris, Laura crafted the eau de parfum.

Graphic designer and photographer Marcel Lennartz, my collaborator for tulip still lifes, curated the design and photography for Hortus Conclusus Tulipa.
